2010 ALLTECH FEI WORLD EQUESTRIAN GAMES SET TO BEGIN

LEXINGTON, KY—The countdown clock reads zero days to go. Athletes and horses have arrived. Construction crews are finishing their jobs. Entertainers are practicing for the Opening Ceremonies and the Kentucky Horse Park is bustling with activity. Let the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games begin!

The Kentucky Horse Park will host 800 athletes from 58 countries during the Games. Some of those athletes and 800-plus horses have traveled thousands of miles to compete in world championship competitions. These horses are incredibly fit and well cared for. In recent days, athletes have been training and practicing for the upcoming competitions.

Eight different disciplines will be competing at the 2010 Games, each with several competitions to contest in both team and individual champions. So far, tickets have been sold in 58 countries and all 50 US states.

The Kentucky Horse Park has undergone extensive construction for the Games. The Rolex Stadium will be the main stadium for the event, holding up to 25,000 people. Dressage, Jumping and Eventing will be held there.  The Indoor Arena will host Reining and Vaulting. The arena is climate controlled with 6,000 seats and hospitality suites.

In addition, the temporary Driving venue is complete and ready to hold up to 6,000 spectators. A temporary venue was constructed for the Endurance start, finish and veterinary checkpoints, and many other temporary structures have been built throughout the Park.

Gates will open at 7 a.m. Saturday, and the Kentucky Horse Park will be the first US venue to host the World Equestrian Games. Tickets to several finals competitions have sold out including Dressage Freestyle, Vaulting Individual Freestyle and the Reining Individual finals.
